Website Design & Development
A website is not a brochure. It is the front end of your sales process.
We build fast, accessible WordPress sites on Kadence — structured for search, designed around how people actually decide, and connected to the systems that follow up when they enquire.
The honest assessment
Most business websites look finished and behave like a dead end
The site was signed off because it looked right in a design presentation. Nobody asked what it was supposed to do after that, so it does very little.
-
It was designed to be admired, not to convert
The homepage opens with a slideshow and a slogan. Three scrolls later a visitor still cannot tell what you do, who it is for, or what happens if they get in touch. Attention is finite and it was spent on decoration.
-
It is slow, and slow costs you before anyone reads a word
Oversized images, a page builder loading assets it never uses, and a dozen plugins that each add weight. On a phone, on real mobile data, a meaningful share of visitors leave before the page finishes rendering.
-
The structure fights the search engines
Headings used for styling rather than hierarchy, thin service pages, no internal linking, and metadata left at whatever the theme generated. The content might deserve to rank. The structure prevents it.
-
The enquiry goes nowhere in particular
The form sends an email. That is the entire system. There is no record, no routing, no automatic acknowledgement, and no way to know later which page produced which customer.
-
You cannot get into it without asking someone
Logins held by an agency, a domain registered to a former developer, hosting nobody can find the invoice for. The site works until the relationship ends.
How we build
WordPress and Kadence, built properly rather than assembled
We use WordPress because you should be able to edit your own site, and Kadence because it produces genuinely light markup instead of nesting a dozen wrappers around a paragraph. The result is a site you can run yourself and a codebase that does not fight you later.
- Mobile-first layouts designed at the width most of your visitors actually use
- Core Web Vitals treated as a build requirement, not a post-launch cleanup task
- Accessible markup — real heading order, keyboard navigation, colour contrast, descriptive alternative text
- Clean, semantic structure that search engines and screen readers both read correctly
- Reusable content patterns, so adding a page later does not require a designer
- Editing that a non-technical person on your team can do without breaking the layout
- Everything registered to you: domain, hosting, licences, logins, and the full site export
Built to be found
The structure is where most sites lose their search visibility
Content gets the attention, but technical structure decides whether that content ever gets a chance. We build the foundation correctly at the start, because retrofitting information architecture onto a finished site is far more expensive than doing it right once.
- An information architecture where every service and location has a page worth ranking
- Heading hierarchy, metadata and schema handled at the template level rather than page by page
- Internal linking that gives your most valuable pages the weight they deserve
- Redirects mapped before launch, so existing rankings survive the migration
- Clean URLs, XML sitemaps, canonical handling and crawl control set correctly from day one
- Analytics and conversion tracking installed at build time, not bolted on months later
The build process
You see it taking shape, and you approve each stage
Nothing about a website build should be a surprise at the end. We work in visible stages so you know what is happening, what is next, and what is still outstanding.
-
Discovery
We establish who the site is for, what a conversion is worth to you, which pages carry the commercial weight, and what has to be true for the project to have been worthwhile.
-
Architecture
We map the page structure, URLs, navigation and conversion paths before any design work. This is where search performance is largely decided.
-
Design
We design the templates that do the heavy lifting rather than mocking up every page. You review real layouts on real screen sizes, not a picture of a website.
-
Build
We build on a staging environment you can visit and comment on throughout, so feedback happens while changing things is still cheap.
-
Launch
Redirects, tracking, forms, backups and security are verified before the switch. We monitor closely through the first days rather than disappearing at handover.
-
Handover
You get the logins, the documentation and a walkthrough of how to run it. Ongoing support is available, but the site does not require us in order to keep working.
Beyond launch day
A site that is connected to what happens next
A website that captures an enquiry and stops there has done a third of its job. We build the site as the front end of a system — so the enquiry becomes a record, the record triggers a response, and you can see which page produced the revenue.
- Forms that write directly into your CRM with the source and campaign attached
- Instant acknowledgement to the enquirer and immediate alerts to the right person internally
- Conversion tracking that connects a channel to a lead and, where possible, to a closed sale
- Reporting that answers which pages produce enquiries, rather than which pages get visits
- A structure that supports adding landing pages, automation and e-commerce later without a rebuild
Before you book
Questions worth asking
It depends on scope — the number of templates, the amount of content, and whether integrations and automation are included. We would rather quote accurately than publish a number that turns out to be wrong. The strategy call ends with a written plan and a real price for your project.
Most builds go live in four to eight weeks. The variable is almost always how quickly content, images and approvals come back from your side, not the engineering. We tell you exactly what we need from you and when.
Yes, without qualification. The domain, hosting account, WordPress installation, theme licences and all logins are registered to you. If you stop working with us, you keep a fully functioning site and every key to it.
That is the reason we build on WordPress and Kadence. Text, images, pages and blog posts are editable by someone with no technical background, and we hand over documentation and a walkthrough covering how.
We migrate content and map redirects before launch so existing URLs continue to resolve. Rankings usually settle within a few weeks of a properly handled migration. Neglecting this step is the most common way a redesign loses traffic.
Performance is a build requirement, not an afterthought. We control image handling, script loading and plugin weight during development rather than trying to optimise a heavy site later. Hosting matters too, which is why we care where the site lives.
You can run it yourself, or we can handle updates, backups, security and ongoing improvement. Both are real options. Nothing is built so that the site quietly degrades unless you keep paying us.
Yes. We often build a focused first phase covering the pages that matter commercially, structured so that additional pages, landing pages or e-commerce can be added later without starting over.
Next step
Let’s look at what your current site is actually doing.
Book a strategy call. We will review speed, structure, search readiness and what happens after someone fills in the form — and tell you whether you need a rebuild or a repair.
